A Drug Story - Happened to a family friend in Jaffna few days ago. Source: mom

He drives three-wheelers in Jaffna. His son was a good, helpful guy, but started doing some “drug” with his friends. He loved a girl, married, has a one year old kid now.

His family tried to stop him, shame him by not talking to him, but he kept doing it. Family called the police, got him arrested, sent to prison for 3 months. They believed staying in prison for 3 months, he wouldn’t be able to get drugs and it would “cure” him.

He came home after 3 months, and immediately went with his friends. After some time, his friends called his dad and said “We were doing the ‘drug’, he is not feeling well now, come and get him”

Dad was furious. Went and picked him up. He was blabbering, calling “dad, dad”, but dad was angry & didn’t reply. His mom asked dad to bring him to their home, but dad declined and took him to son’s wife and kid.

Wife called the mom a few hours later and said he got dinner. He wanted to talk to his mom, but she angrily told his wife, “No need to talk to me when he is high.”

Dude went to sleep, wife called few hours later saying he is choking, they went to take him to hospital, he’s dead.

Mom was devastated, and she died of heart attack a month later (3 days ago).

They didn’t even know what drug he took. They simply call it “drug”. The family and even his friends didn’t know about overdose, and what to do in that case.
